Patrick is an accomplished leader with over a decade of experience in the research and title industry and as a sole proprietor. Since graduating from SUNY Oswego he has continued his lifelong goal of learning to become an expert in multiple fields including title examination, abstracting, and business operations.

He has a passion for seeing people—and by extension organizations—reach their full potential and knows that with the right team, the right tools, and the right mindset around him, that potential is achievable and can be a force for good in this world.

Outside of work, Patrick enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, and also, with what little free time he has left, exploring the natural beauty of Upstate New York.

Stephen is a first-class manager, implementation lead, and forward thinker. His dedication to always learn, grow, and take on new challenges over his twenty-plus year career, drove him to become a master of operational structure and his genuine desire to connect with others helps him excel as a leader of teams.

He has the talent and the experience needed to make the complex simple, the simple repeatable, and the repeatable efficient leading to impeccable quality of work, happier teams, and satisfied customers.

On the weekends you’ll find Stephen spending time with his wife, Amy, and his three beautiful children, rooting for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, and maintaining the best-manicured lawn in the neighborhood.

Courtney S. Shampine

Courtney is a masterful all-around executive and team builder. Her knack for attention to detail, collaboration, and personal service, combined with her fifteen-plus years of experience in the industry, ensures that the job gets done and it gets done right.

She prides herself on working closely with our clients and team and has a passion for acquiring new skills, and knowledge and training others on what she’s learned.

In her free time, Courtney visits with friends and family, enjoys a good walk when the weather cooperates, and tries to get to as many concerts as possible in the summer.

Zachary E. Crossett

Zachary is a skilled project manager, strategist, and problem solver. He is a graduate with honors from the University at Albany with a decade-plus of experience across multiple industries, leading teams and spearheading company initiatives that increased customer retention and growth.

He is motivated to constantly learn, listen and empathize because he believes that is the best way to provide a customizable, forward-thinking solution for every customer or issue that not only solves the immediate problem but also enhances the business as a whole.

Away from the office, Zach loves spending time with family and friends, cheering on Syracuse sports, and laboring to become a mediocre golfer.

Ryan G. Thorpe

Ryan founded Vanguard in 2003 to improve the research and title industry by using innovative technology, exceptional service, and creative solutions. With over twenty-five years of experience, he has successfully navigated every curveball the industry can throw, while also growing Vanguard from a one-bedroom two-man operation into one of the area’s premier research and title companies with statewide reach.

He strives to always be at the forefront of technology. His love of developing has led him to create several proprietary software solutions used by Vanguard to address the issues faced by the industry and increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall customer satisfaction.

You’ll find Ryan now traversing the country with his family in their beloved fifth wheel, creating their next perfect family adventure.
